About Aspasia

The name Aspasia comes from ancient Greece.

Most people will have heard of Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle, but there are no famous female Greek philosophers who are written about and so revered.

However, Aspasia was a woman in ancient Greece who taught Socrates about rhetoric. Without her teachings, we may not have had access to the words of these Greek scholars in the same way in which we do today.

I am an advocate for women, for the words of women, and female empowerment. I believe in the importance of women being in places where decisions are made, as Ruth Bader Ginsburg said and my goal with Aspasia is to aid in that process.

About me

My name is Laura and I created Aspasia out of a desire to find a work-life balance that worked for me.

After spending 20 years in customer service, I went back to education in 2014 and I gained a diploma in Legal Services, followed by a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Law in 2020.

Post covid I worked short term contracts while writing and expanding my written skills, gaining diplomas in proofreading & editing, virtual assistance business, copywriting and freelance writing. In 2024 I started to look into self-employment and working freelance and in 2025 Aspasia was born
